I'm about ready to rip my hair out with this new Fold 7. I upgraded from a Fold 6, which worked flawlessly by the way. I used smart switch to transfer everything over, except now none of my apps that are not Samsung/google native will give me notifications. My Gmail will give me notifications, but only once a day at a random time. Other apps will not.

For anyone also having this problem, I have discovered a fix that doesnt involve losing all your data.

What you'll need to do is go to the factory reset menu in your phone. Above factory reset is a temporary backup option. Back all your data up to Samsung, it stays backed up for 30 days.

Factory reset your phone, and go back to that menu to redownload all your data. This is the important part.

DOWNLOAD EVERYTHING EXCEPT FOR SETTINGS.

This did the trick for me.

You may have to go in and reconfigure notifications for your apps.  Some notification settings may have changed or categories eliminated.  Make sure you have notification categories turned on.  Settings/notifications/advanced settings/manage notification settings for all apps. Then go into your app settings, make sure notifications are turned on and make sure they are turned on/off for the categories for which you want notifications.  Make sure they are not on "silent".  If you had stock Samsung sounds associated with some notifications, some sounds may have been eliminated.  Any custom sound you set should not be affected.

I have notification categories off. Additionally, all settings are configured correctly as far as I can tell. Turning Categories on, everything appears to be checked, including things I would normally have expected to get notifs for.

Choosing one app in particular, discord for instance, Notifications are on inside the app, and inside the settings. Everything is set up for notifs and vibrations, uninstalling and reinstalling did not help.

I have tried just about everything you can imagine except for resetting the phone and installing everything manually instead of using smart switch, which for obvious reasons I am desperately trying to avoid.

You shouldn't have to dtart from scratch if you reset and restore. But, have you tried clearing the cache partition?

No, I meant the phone's cache partition.
To clear the phone cache:

1. Power off your phone. Hold Power and vol up buttons until Samsung Logo appears
2. Let go of both buttons when you see the Samsung Logo appear on screen. There will be a delay while it enters recovery mode.
3. Use the volume buttons to navigate through recovery menu options and highlight “Wipe Cache Partition.” Press power button to select this option. Confirm by navigating to the yes response and tapping the power button to select.
5. When wiping cache partition is complete, "reboot system now" should be highlighted; press power key to select it. The phone will reboot as normal.

I will try that now. Will doing that wipe my personal data or app logins?

No (only if you accidentally hit "wipe data/factory reset", and still you have a chance to back out).  It will only clear out leftover temporary files. Best practices is to do it after every update (security, OS, Play System), so no leftovers from file swapping confuse things. It is also the second step in troubleshooting if issues come  up (the first being a simple reboot).

Look for a Google play services update. The errors would be unrelated to the cache cleaning.
