Subject:
Display Flickering During Fast Charging and Subsequent Color Shift on Z Flip 5

Message:

I’m reporting an issue with my Galaxy Z Flip 5’s inner display: flickering while charging and a worrying olive green hue that appeared and lasted for several days.

The odd thing is the problem began spontaneously and not charging while the phone was on my counter and I was listening to music—no drops, damage, or third-party modifications involved.

After extensive testing, I discovered that the issue is directly tied to Samsung’s Super Fast Charging (25W) and likely any fast charger over time, i.e. - I went with a hunch and let the battery drain to 0% before recharging, this time with a slower charger, and to my pleasant surprise, it seemed to recalibrate the system and stabilize the display.

This suggests a voltage instability affecting the OLED panel’s black point and the display controller’s behavior during high-speed charging. The issue is most noticeable under low brightness and adaptive brightness settings.

I recommend Samsung investigate:
- Display controller sensitivity to charging voltage
- OLED calibration under fast charge conditions
- Potential firmware updates to mitigate flicker and color drift

This is a reproducible issue on my phone, and I believe it could affect other users—especially those using fast charging on aging Z Flips.

I’m happy to provide further documentation or video evidence if needed.

Thank you for your attention to this matter.

Hello. Welcome to Samsung Community. This is a forum where Samsung users attempt to assist other Samsung users with their Samsung products and services. While we do have some moderators here, their main function is to police community policy infractions.

Your suggestion would be better provided to Samsung by accessing the 'Send Feedback' form in this app, if you have not done so already. Go back to the main page, tap the 'Support' tab, then, under 'Quick Help', tap 'Send Feedback'.

If you sent the feedback to the engineers, why are you posting it here?

Maybe I posted it to the wrong spot? Have never been on any of these forums, but my motivation is that it may help a similarly situated person recognize (and hopefully fix) their flip phone.

Perhaps this issue is singular to you.  I have never, once seen a question relating to this issue on this forum.  That doesn't mean it hasn't happened, just that it's not a common complaint.  If this was a common issue, there would be many, many posts about it. It may be happening to you because there is some defect in your screen or the electronics.  Have you run a diagnostic on your phone?

Was your feedback to the engineers an error report that included your phone logs within an hour of the condition appearing?

Thanks for your perspective. I understand this issue may not be widely reported, and I even responded to several individuals with similar problems that I found. That’s exactly why I chose to share it—so others who might be experiencing something similar but haven’t spoken up can see they’re not alone. These types of rare issues only surface when someone takes the time to bring them to light.

Yeah, the previous reply was not exactly an expert in thousands of variables between your cable, settings, charger, RAM, on and on. Yeah this entire 'forum' is basically a phantom diversion to keep you from official support & submitting diagnostic, logs, errors, ect.
Suppose we'll run into one another on the full samsung web support forum.
As a Videographer, my Gal23Ultra videos have been destroyed vs previous update! Literally looks like video LUTS exported for Premiere or DaVinci!

You don't have to be here if it's not useful to you.  this forum certainly does not exist to prevent one from putting in an error report or accessing "real" support.  Many times people are directed to the error reporting option.  Other users can help with things that don't require the programmers to get involved, as most things are easily solvable without tech support intervention, and is usually a more immediate fix.

I did run diagnostics and submitted a detailed error report with logs shortly after the condition appeared. I also tested multiple variables, including charger type and battery state, and found a consistent link between fast charging and display instability. That kind of pattern suggests it’s not just a one-off defect, but possibly a firmware-level sensitivity worth investigating.

Is your perspective that I should remain quiet? Even if it turns out to be isolated, I believe it’s still useful for the community and for Samsung’s engineers to have more data points. Appreciate your input.
