Google messages uses more storage. Why?

It's not a true comparison. What you're seeing with Samsung Messages is just the app size. The Google Messages number is the app size + the space taken up by all your messages. The more messages you have, the bigger that number is going to be.

It's not just the messages, it's the pictures, video, emoji's, reactions everything. The difference is shell size is 18mb.

I miswrote - it's not 2.5 tunes now. It's 8.84 TIMES MORE. And they both have enojis, video, etc. What are you talking about? I didn't pull those storage amounts from the download page; I pulled them from both apps after they were downloaded to my phone. Try it and look at the storage amounts of both apps in your app setting so you can understand.

I do not know how technically advanced your knowledge is, clearly you don't understand the difference between app size and data. Unless you are willing to provide the screenshots as proof, I will choose to believe you are being deceptive on purpose.

Why is it smaller than my last screenshot, I routinely clean out old texts and clear cache.

It all takes the same amount of storage space, regardless of which app you use. Difference in app size is negligible. It's the associated media content that matters.

It is illogical to compare a simple app that only sends sms and believe it will take up the "same amount of storage" as an app that sends RCS, has smart features, AI scanning, etc etc.
The difference would not be negligible.

It would be better to compare both apps with 0 messages.
