Go to settings/general management/keyboard list and default, open the default keyboard option and select GBoard ad your default. Also slide the show keyboard button on the navigation bar on so you can seitch back and forth if you need to.

I've already done this. There is no option for
choosing gboard. It just isn't there. It has samsung keyboard already selected & that is all there is. Thank you for responding. I truly appreciate it.

Did you actually download G-Board?  It is not natively installed  on the phone.  Once you download any alternative keyboard, it will show up in the keyboard list for you to select.

Yes. Went to the Play Store & downloaded gboard. It's listed in my apps & that is the only place. When I open gboard, it gives the instructions, but when I tap on them, nothing. The only place it shows up is in the apps. Not on the default keyboard.

Have you tried going into the G-Board settings on your phone?  Long press the app icon and click on the little circled "i" on the upper right.

If it downloaded and installed properly it should show up in your keyboard list.  Should look like this:Screenshot_20240804_105827_Settings.jpg

 and, if it's in the list, you have to make sure the slider is on to activate it.  Then you can click on where it says "default keyboard" and switch it to G-Board.

If that doesn't work, perhaps uninstall it, reboot your phone and then reinstall it.

Yes, I have done everything you have suggested here. The app settings look just fine, but as I said, it doesn't come up on the list. Thank you.

What happens if you put the keyboard button on the nav bar?  If you press it does it come up with both keyboards?  I'm afraid your only other options would be to try a factory reset and restore your backup or stick with Samsung keyboard, or download another keyboard such as swiftkey, which I hear some other users like. See if any other keyboard shows up in the list, you don't have to use it if you don't like it.

Yes, the keyboard symbol is at the bottom right. I tap on it & it brings up the following;
Choose input method, it offers either Google voice typing or samsung keyboard. At the bottom it says show keyboard button. That's it. I guess I'm going to have to contact Samsung & google to get this resolved. Thank you for all your input.
