Finally looking to move on from my Galaxy S7, what next?

Phone is around 9 years old. It's slowing down and only has 32gb. I like the phone itself though and I am looking for something similar. Looking for something small, good battery, and runs smoothly. Any recs?

Depends on what features you want and what you are willing to pay.  You don't have to go with an S series if you don't want or need everything the S series has to offer.  You can go with the more budget friendly A series.  I do recommend, though, that if you go with the A series, you buy the highest end model, which will still be half the price of the S series.

Well, it depends on what you are looking for, you said something small and with good battery... Well, compared to the S7 I think an S23 or S23FE would be good, since you would find it at a good price now, for example, on Amazon they are starting at $300 - $500 (note that I am counting the refurbished ones as well). Also on eBay are the s23 and s23FE below $500 new in their box... You could also see the S24 and S24FE (S24FE is a big cell phone, so we discarded it according to what you said) and the last option would be the S25. If you bought them directly from Samsung, they could give you a lower price by giving your S7 thanks to trade-in. Mainly right now for the S24 it would cost you ~$650 and the S25 ~$750 (that if you give your S7 or any other Samsung phone)....But, you can go for a A series and you will save much more than a S series... a A54 - A56 is good right now...even a +A30 series. But those are mainly Big ones so...Well i waiting to help you...

Since, like me, you don't update every year or two, I recommend that you future proof by buying the latest. I just upgraded from a note 9 to an s24 ultra (before I knew about the s25) and it's about the same size, but boy does it take great pictures! I'm super happy with it, and intend to hang on to it for a while. It will make the cost per year feel nominal. Best wishes 😊

PS I can't live without the stylus to take notes before I forget. I couldn't operate without it. This may be an important decision factor for you as well. Otherwise, there's lots of great phones with a new battery to choose from.
