The Samsung manul says that if I "move"a photo from "pictures to an album it will disappear from pictures and only appear in the album. However, my Galaxy S10 leaves the "moved" picture in the "picture"section and simply copies it to the album. So what is the purpose of the "copy" option ? Why doesn't it "move" the photo and help clean up the picture area?
@Tomjan The "Pictures" area of the Gallery shows all the pictures detected on your device regardless of which album the picture belongs to.
When you "Move" a photo to an album it is moved to that album but still is shown in the "Pictures" area. You can verify this by clicking on a photo and swiping up. The location (directory) is shown where the photo is stored.
Photos moved to an album will show a directory of "/internal storage/DCIM/ALBUMNAME".
The default directory for photos taken with the camera is "/internal storage/DCIM/Camera".
A photo moved to an album is not duplicated. It does not take up more storage.
A photo copied to an album is duplicated. It does take up more storage. And it will be displayed twice in the "Pictures" area since it exists in 2 physical locations.
