I'm a bit confused on the difference between a Carrier phone Vs. an Unlocked one. If I can get better savings by trading in what I have currently through my Carrier, why would I want an unlocked one insted? Are there specific advantages to using one over the other??? Thank You!

My example is this. I bought an unlocked zfold6. I could not get the Verizon visual voicemail to work because it's baked into Verizon's blob. So I ended up going from U1 to U to be on Verizon zfold6.

I have an Unlocked S25U, and visual voicemail works just fine on Verizon.

I'm about to go on Verizon soon with my unlocked Galaxy S25 Plus.
