Why can't I just turn off 5G?

I understand that 5G is better than 4G LTE speed wise, but it is not better coverage wise. I would like to either force LTE or turn off 5G. You can use 5G Edge by dialing *#*#4636*#*# and selecting LTE as the preferred network type, and it is 4G LTE-A, yes, but I shouldn't have to access a manufacturing menu just to use the more common network.

I also wouldn't mind 5G being forced on if it prioritized LTE when a 5G signal was weak, but this is not the case. 5G is always prioritized.

You actually don't have to use dialer codes for this. Go to connections/mobile networks /network mode. This is the only spot you can lock 5g out for lte only.

I thought when the coverage is bad the phone will auto drop to LTE or even 3g

This code doesn't even work since the new update. Which is BS. Espionage since ATT will often times favor a 5g tower that's not connecting over a 4g tower with better service. Not to mention battery lift is much better on 4g
