It is stupid how it works but if you delete something from the Gallery it will stay in Photos because Photos backs them up but the stupid thing is if you delete something from Photos it also deletes them from the Gallery (they really need to change this behavior) Google explicitly tells you that if you go over your storage limit photos and videos will be deleted and basically all Google services will stop including Gmail (this has nothing to do with Samsung) this is why I believe Samsung needs to get away from Google because Google sucks and they monopolize everything 1775740332744.jpg

The reason that deleting from Google deletes it from the device is because Google Photos is *backup*, as well as sync.  If you delete a photo from backup, it's assumed you no longer want the photo at all, so it deletes it from the phone.  If one deletes a photo from the gallery, it only deletes it from the phone and it remains in Google's storage.  How many times have we heard that someone accidentally deleted photos from the gallery?  The fact that they are in Google means they are not lost forever.  If you *sync* with OneDrive, it's a sync, not a backup, so deleting from either the gallery or OneDrive will delete the photo from both places.  So, the tip here is if you are cleaning out your gallery and no longer want the photo at all, delete it from Google so that you don't have to delete it twice.  If you delete something from the gallery accidentally, you can recover it from trash or from Google long after the trash has been emptied.  If you are clearing space on your phone and want to move your photos to an external device, just move them to said device and they will still be available in Google (as long as there is space).  If you back up your photos to an external device and remove them from your phone and also want to clear out your Google storage, delete from Google after the photos are preserved on your external device.

Well, good for you.  That's a lot of anger for an app that does not affect your life in any way.

The default photo app on your phone is still Samsung Gallery.  Google is where your photos are backed up to.  You can open, view and edit your photos in either app.  However, if you delete photos from Google without first copying them to a flash drive, you will delete the photos from your Gallery - deleting from Google backup deletes from everywhere.  It is assumed that if you delete the backup photo, you no longer want the original.  If you delete a photo from Samsung Gallery, it will remain in Google backup (because it's a *backup*) until you delete it from there.  Is that clear enough?

What bars?. Edit your photos in gallery, not Google photos.

How do you anticipate Samsung could distance itself from Google? Would they implement a Tizen OS for their mobile devices? This scenario appears highly improbable. Google is synonymous with Android, and Samsung's One UI is essentially a customized interface built upon the Android platform.

I find it challenging to comprehend individuals who express disdain for Google yet continue to utilize Android devices. There is an alternative for those who wish to avoid Google services entirely, including Android itself, and that option is an iPhone.
