S9 takes better pictures than S21 +

So I have an S21 + and I tried taking a picture of the moon and some clouds and the picture looks like **bleep**. I also have a S9 and I took a similar picture and the quality is noticeable. So I got to thinking is it possible the S9 has a better camera then the S21? From my perspective it sure seems like it. Btw I had not messed with any of the settings whatsoever. The first two pictures are from the S21 and the third is from the S9. Please share your thoughts

I agree. And it's mind boggling that an S9 shoots way better picture then a phone 12 versions newer. I think my next step is going to be to actually open both phones and compare the cameras.

The S9 had dual apertures that allowed it to open up to f1.5 take better low light images, whereas the S21 has a single smaller aperture (f2.2 I think) that's more general purpose and overall oriented around brighter scenarios. You can mess around with the various low light or astro modes to get better night images.

S9 pic is nice and clearer than the other camera, that's for sure.

I had a 2021 MotoG power that took beautiful (especially straight-up point and shoot) pictures, much better quality on average than my S21+. Of course I could get better pics after I **bleep** with a multitude of settings on the S21+, but the MotoG power was less than $200 brand new. My best friend is using it yo this day.
