Unlocking phone from carrier

How do you unlock the phone from carrier? The carrier says it's unlocked but my phone doesn't

Since the model number ends with U its carrier locked and T-mobile would need to provide you the Unlock code to unlock it so you can switch carriers if you want

Does your model number end in U or U1 if it ends with U its carrier locked and they have to unlock it if its U1 its factory unlocked you can switch carriers anytime you want by replacing the sim

Can you resubmit unlock request through your phone ? Try Settings > Connections > More connections settings > Network unlock > Permanent unlock, restart your device. If that does not work call 611 and explain what's going. You can also login to your t-mobile account and check status of your phone. T-mobile is my carrier too.
