Since the warranty doesn’t cover cracked screens you would have had to purchase insurance from your carrier for it to be covered

Oh gotcha it was not my device under my carrier so I would have to just get it fixed at my local spot right

Some carriers will include all devices active on the account I would suggest contacting them to see if they will cover it

You could put a scren protector over it to keep the screen from further damage. I did that for about a year after I cracked a screen on a previous phone. If the crack isn't currently interfering with phone operation or seeing what's on the screen, it's a much cheaper alternative than replacing the screen right away. It will prevent the crack from spreading and prevent moisture from entering the internals.
