I am SICK of accidentally losing progress in apps just because my hand slipped and thumb hit the 'close all apps' button while trying to switch apps. It's terrible placement, it doesn't need to be there. It regularly causes disruptions in my work flow and quite frankly, the fact that I've seen other posts for years about it and nothing to fix it is horrid.

Some people like it. Fine. Make it an option to move it. Please. This is awful.

While this has never happened to me, this should definitely be an option.

In stock vanilla Android you have to swipe all the way right to get to close all.

Thank you! At the very least it should NOT be a single tap. At least a confirmation pop-up or something to prevent accidentally nuking things just because your hand slipped.

You can lock apps you want to keep open, you know.  Just tap the icon on the top of the open app and it will bring up a menu to lock it.  Meaning if you hit "close all" accidentally or on purpose, it will not close those apps.  Bear in mind, though, that even an app pinned open will time out after a while and may not put you back where you left off.  The Members app, for example, will not stay on a post you left it open to after a while, but refreshes to the Discover page.

You can pin apps not to close by tapping on the app icon in recents by tapping on the keep open.1770828979793.jpg

It only lets you pin one app nowadays and that makes all other apps run like garbage on my phone. That's not a solution.

Don't know about you, but I just locked every single one of my open apps with no issue. Even pinning one app open does not affect the performance of other apps. There's no reason why it should. Even if you don't pin it, the app remains in the same state until you either swipe it away individually or hit close all.  If you are having performance issues while apps are open, perhaps you should perform some maintenance on your device such as clearing the cache partition, checking that you have enough free space on your storage drive and using the automatic optimization feature to restart your phone at least once weekly.  You do have an older phone.

I actually don't even know how one hits close all by accident.  It's big enough to see, and when I want to re open an app from recents, I tap the middle of the screen, not the bottom of the window.

As I replied above, it only lets pin a single app. From what I've read, it used to allow any number, but now the 'keep open' button grays out on other apps once I hit it for one.

That may be an anomaly on your device or with some other setting interfering.  I have never had a problem pinning multiple apps open, although I don't usually need to.  Just for experimentation purposes, I pinned all 12 of my "open" apps last night without an issue.  I even opened an additional app that I did not pin and then selected close all - only the unpinned app closed.  Have you ever cleared your phone's cache partition?  This is part of the best practice and maintenance after an update (and any time your phone is not behaving as it should).

They are never going to make the adjustment you want for one single request.  They would need to get hundreds of thousands.  This appears to be an issue only for you.
