After the latest software update I no longer receive notifications from apps I used to. When accessing the app notification settings it shows:
All notifications from this app are blocked
The toggle button to turn notifications on is grayed out. Navigating to the notifications menu in settings, this app "Breather Coach" in this case, isn't listed, even though it's installed.
I've reproduced this with clean install on both S23 Ultra and S8 Ultra tablet. I installed the same app on an LG android device and notifications work normally.
To summarize, Samsung pushed an update, broke app notifications, and has done absolutely nothing to fix this issue for nearly a year. This is confirmed isolated to Samsung software updates as the same app works fine on other android platforms.
There are several third-party apps that have this problem. It's up to the app developers to update the affected app to make it compatible with the latest version of OneUI.
I've seen this kind of response before, in all cases zero details are provided about what specifically developers would need to do to fix an issue specific to Samsung devices, or HOW to get Samsung devices to function properly like any other Android device. What's the actual fix?
I don't know. I've seen a few posts mentioning this, but nobody has really made it clear exactly what needs to be done. Like you, I wish someone would go into more detail about what's causing the problem.
