Backup by Google One: but where is the backup?

Apparently according to the settings on my phone, it is being backed up by Google One.  But backed up where!?  I have lost some of my Samsung Contacts recently, not all, just some. Another puzzle. So if my phone's contacts are being backed up (which I don't know is the case, actually since the Backup Details just says that Apps, 46 of them, are being backed up), where are they?  How would I get a restore of them? I saw online help posts when I was searching that indicated that I could back up to the Samsung cloud but that is not an option on my phone.  I appreciate any help.

Google One is simply the program used to manage the storage in Google Drive, which is where your data is stored. I migrated all my contacts away from Samsung Contacts (orange icon) to Google Contacts (blue icon) in case I buy a non-Samsung phone. The apps and contacts backed up by Samsung go to Samsung Cloud: which I only use for backups before a major system upgrade. I hope this helps.

So if I sign onto Google Drive, I might be able to see the data from my phone?  thanks!

You might not see a backup folder on Google Drive, but the data is backed up in an aggregate file that is there when you're ready to restore to your phone.

The Google backup can only be restored upon first resetting your phone (silly, I know), before you do any other configuration.  Otherwise, you have to restore your Samsung backup. If you are looking for your contacts, you can go to contacts.google.com to see if they are there.  You can also go to the Contacts app (not the tab in the phone dialer) and select the 3 line menu on the top left and choose to display all contacts, manage your contacts to merge them into one location or move them to the desired location. if your contacts were backed up to Google contacts and your missing contacts are showing there, you will have to set the contacts app to show all contacts (which may result in duplicates) or just merge them.  I suggest leaving them in Google contacts and choosing to display the Google contacts, as that will make it the default save location (or else you will be asked each time you add a contact).
