1. Device Care.

2. Modes and Routines.

3. Digital Wellbeing.

None of them appear to have a valid function; just waisted memory and you can't seem to disable them.

All three are very useful depending on the situation. Device care will free up memory with one tap (widget)
Modes and routines are for when you're at work etc you can set it to go to voicemail and all the settings apps etc setup for work. And Chang back with a tap to your regular setup after work or night time. Away from home etc.
Lastly digital well being will help to see your weekly usage and let's you reflect on how much you used your phone . This also applies to kids. You can see their phone usage and know if they are on the phone to much and when. It's only kept local on device.

They just seem like tools to promote a lack of self-discipline and self-control.

Nothing they do can not be done by the user

The modes and routines are very useful to many people. They don't use any resources unless they are active, and depending on what routine one creates, even ehen they are active the use very little. Most of the modes actually conserve resources. Device care keeps everything running smoothly, also uses no resources unless you are actively using them.

Nothing they do can not be done by the user if they set their mind to it and hold themselves accountable.

Some people like to automate things, some people need to automate things. Who are you to pass judgement on what apps people use and why? You think they are useless, don't use them-simple as that

I am gen X; we created the internet and computing as you know it.

Do you have kids, grandkids, or nieces/nephews?

I do.

2/3 of graduating seniors can't do basic skills, like time management; specifically because of apps like these and the lack of accountability and self-discipline they create.
