Can someone tell me if there's a way to set different notification sound for messages? I really dislike when they're the same sound as other notifications like emails etc. I've scoured the internet and YouTube and have found nothing. I cam from apple with high hopes...this is a let down lol
Go to Messages > Select Contact > Press 3 dot icon in upper right corner > Notification Sound > Select the Custom Notification you want to use for that specific contact > Repeat with as many different contacts as you'd like
This used to be possible as other replies indicate. However since an update to my S21 phone in May, the controls to change the sound for incoming messages is no longer on the messages>settings>notifications page. I contacted Samsung support and they confirmed the update removed it! There is no date for them fixing this bug, and I do consider it a bug! I submitted feedback as an error. If you agree, please submit your feedback to Samsung as well.
Messages is one of the main communications functions and so it needs it's own notification sound. Removing this is almost as bad making the phone ringtone the same as the default notification sound!
