I hate that there's no option to disable the "Immersive Mode" full screen display. There are no settings for this, and every app I've tried doesn't work. I don't need an immersive game experience for sudoku! I want to be able to see the navigation and status bar. It seems to be controlled by game developers with no user options.

Most apps that take over the full screen simply hide the navigation bar, but it's still there and usable. You should be able to just slide the bar up from the bottom (or side, if in landscape mode) of the screen.

I don't want to have to manually check for notifications or the time. I want to see them. Why is it so important to you that users not have control over this?

Not imortant to me at all. I just recognize that when you buy any appliance you are buying it with whatever limitations it has. I also recognize that this type of control is utilized by the app designers, not the device manufacturer. I also can't believe how absolutely lazy technology has made people. You want to know the time? Buy a watch, any watch.
