Not sure if this is due to Android 15 or Samsung.  On Android 14, when you go to create a new text message, the cursor would automatically be in the recipient line with the keyboard open.  On Android 15, you have to click in the recipient line to open the keyboard (an extra step that was not there before).

The other issue is that there is a ton of empty space above the text messages themselves.  The text messages used to start right at the top and go down, which let you see more messages right from the start.

I don't know why they made these changes, but they are annoying.  I know that Samsung is supposed to be phasing out their messaging app, but I don't want to switch to Google Messages, as it is garbage.  Google needs to step it up and start paying attention to what people want, instead of what Google THINKS people want.

Okay, rant over.

@1971Chevelle Which Messaging app are you using?

I'm using Google Messages. When I click the new message icon, it opens the keyboard directly in the Recipient field.

I am using Samsung Messages, because Google Messages is garbage (as I stated above).  I tried it under Android 14 and it was severely lacking compared to Samsung Messages.  One of my main complaints is that Google Messages gives you NO WAY to retrieve deleted text messages.

With Samsung Messages, you can retrieve deleted texts for up to 30 days.  Sometimes that is needed, as you may delete a message, then realize over a week later that you need that info back.  Google Messages does not have that option.  Plus, it does not look as good as Samsung Messages does.

He didn't ask for your rationale for what messaging app you use, he asked which one you use in order to properly advise you/try to replicate your issue. Screen shots are also helpful when you are describing such things as empty spaces.

If the person reads in its entirety what 1971Chevelle wrote he would see that he already stated which messaging app he uses. So therefore there was no need to ask what was already stated. Just saying

I have the exact problem and feeling when it comes to Google messaging. Samsung needs to fix this ASAP!

Samsung doesn't need to fix anything related to Google Messages.  Google needs to fix anything that needs fixing, it's their app.

Smh... The initial problem is with SAMSUNG! 1971Chevelle is USING SAMSUNG and the complaint is when starting a text, the cursor is at the text area first and not at the recipient box like it used to be before the update.
Please read what he wrote from the get go.
Thank you,
Convo done!

But, *you* stated that Samsung needs to fix Google's app.
