When I have extend unlock enabled in my home, when I go to open my phone I have to swipe to get to the home screen. What's the point of that when my thumbprint takes even less time.

Is there a way to disable the swipe to unlock on the extend unlock?

Turn off stay on the lock screen until you swipe, and it will let you get right to your home screen.1732297888695.jpg

I was about to reply the same as OP. While I've generally accepted having to swipe when Extend Unlock is active (it's one less action than I usually have to do, at least), I would like for the swipe to be unnecessary. Like OP, I also do not have Face Unlock enabled, so can't try your suggestion myself. Looked for a similar option to turn off that isn't "Face Unlock" related and can't find one (so far).

I started using Extend Unlock a few wks ago. Also would like to know if there's a way to set it so tap-to-wake or pressing Power button will open immediately to home screen instead of opening lock screen & requiring a swipe.

Have you also noticed that sometimes when Extend Unlock is activated it will STILL require you to unlock (asks for PIN/pattern)? I understand the reasoning for when regular access security is active (occasionally, biometrics are countermanded by a necessity for PIN/pattern/other); but if you give an indication that the device is in a safe location not needing to be locked, why would you EVER be required to still unlock while Extend Unlock is enabled??

Well, seems Extend Unlock only lasts 4hrs at a time at most? That explains why the unlock requests resume - & aren't so random as I thought.

Extend unlock keeps your phone unlocked for up to 4 hours.  However, if you miss a phone call, text, or notification while you are away from your phone, the phone will immediately lock, even if you are in a "safe" place (have you never had guests?).  This is a security measure to prevent busybodies from reading your texts and notifications.  After 4 hours, if you are not actively using your phone, it will automatically lock and if you are using your phone, it will lock when you stop using it.

It does seem a bit redundant to have to lock screen show when extend unlock is running, but I think it's more of a privacy screen in that regard.  I have my phone set to have the fingerprint reader "always visible" (although it's not really-it's invisible til I use it.) Even though I have extend unlock on, most times I just press the location of the fingerprint reader and go right into the home screen, effectively negating extend unlock.  The only thing that extend unlock does in that instance is keep the phone unlocked so that if you are in your safe space you can allow others access without having to enter your password every time the screen times out.
