I have a a question about the icon area at the bottom of the home screen. Not the navigation bar with the back/home/recent buttons - I mean the customizable icon area just above that, which stays visible when scrolling among screens.

I had the Ask Alexa icon there but lost it when I had to uninstall and reinstall the Alexa app. Now it won't let me add it back. Apparently it's a widget, which can't be added to that bar, but I had it before - or maybe I had a non-widget icon that launched Ask Alexa? I use it a lot because it's quicker than using the full Alexa app. Anyone know how I can get it back - or add something else to that bar that will launch Ask Alexa?

The Activity Launcher app isn't really a launcher. It just creates shortcuts to activities.

I mentioned Nova Launcher just in case you were using it as your default launcher. As It has the same ability to create shortcut to activities.

You should be able to drag the app icon down there 1735703466733.jpg

I know, but I can't. It bounces back upto the home screen. Apparently it doesn't accept widgets.

It’s not a widget it’s the actual app icon open your app draw and add the app icon to your home screen and then drag the app icon to the panel

There is no Ask Alexa app that I can find - only a widget. If you know of one I'd appreciate help finding it. Nothing comes up in Google Play or a Google search.

I'm not talking about the Alexa app - I could drag that down. But the point of the Ask Alexa widget is that it opens immediately to a tyoe/voice bar. The app requires extra steps to get there.

The only option then would be to place the widget right above the bar if you could even add the widget to all of your home screens in the same spot 1735706619855.jpg

Well, yes, but that's a workaround. What I don't understand is that I did have it in that quick launch area until I had to uninstall and reinstall the Alexa app today. Weird.

Thanks for replying.

That must have been a glitch since widgets have never been able to be in that area only apps
