Q: Is there a way for updates to complete themselves 100% without user interaction?

When my S24 Ultra updates it gets stuck on the Lock screen that says “Phone Restarted – unlock phone to get app updates." In order to get the rest of the apps there is a required user interaction with the phone. This is an issue because I had auto updates set between 2am – 3am and would wake up to a locked screen with not notifications from apps. This has created 2-problems:

  1. The alarm app is not able to override the lock and the alarm does not go off
  2. Texts and phone calls are not able to come through until the phone is unlocked. This is an issue when there is a family emergency and texts nor calls can get through

My old Samsung Galaxy phones were able to complete auto updates independent of user interaction. This makes me assume that there should be a way for my s24 ultra to update and complete the full update without my interaction to the point that I can get phone calls and my alarm can go off. Is there a way for updates to complete themselves 100% without user interaction?

NOTES: I have already set my phone to manual updates because of this issue and changing the update time doesn’t solve the issue either.

Your only options would probably be to disable all security prior to going to sleep, or not scheduling your updates for the middle of the night. I don't know about your phone, but when an update is ready, I get a notification that it's available and I can either download and install at that point, or schedule for a more convenient time. Updates do not take very long to complete, so you can probably schedule it to download and install while you are doing your morning routine or at dinnertime, thereby insuring that your alarms, notifications and calls will come through when you need them to. There are plenty of points during the day where you are probably not using your phone that you can install an update without seriously disrupting your activities. I've never had an update take longer than 10 minutes to complete.
