After the ui 8 update my phone as been glitching. I said before it lags in T-Mobile splash screen, not all the time but does do it. When I unlock the phone it will flicker. I've disabled the unlock transition and it seemed to stop it for now. I just got the phone checked and there's not hardware or malware on the phone. Battery is at 92/93 percent. He said I don't have to change it yet. I just wanna know if anyone else is still experiencing issues after the ui 8 and security patch they sent out in October. This is driving me insane. Even ui 7 didn't do this.

If you visited a carrier store and not a certified samsung repair center, I would venture to guess that the sales rep probably did not put your device into recovery mode to perform a cache clear on your device.

Software errors sometimes occur after software updates as a result of temporary junk files that need to be cleared out. Clearing device cache is a simple process that can fix many of these issues. You can follow the guide linked in my previous comment.

Feel free to reach out if you need additional assistance.

Would new security updates fix any software issues that the UI 8 could have introduced? Last time I have glitches we whiped the cache and factory reseted it but didn't do anything. Found out it was an app that was doing it. I don't know what's causing it now. The lag on T-Mobile splash screen the guy said would just get worse over time. It doesn't happen all the time device will still start up and everything. Mainly just having to main issues with it since updating it. I would assume while the guy was looking at the phone and hooking it up to the computer he would whipe the cache while he had it on the recovery screen. As I said he said the phone is working as it should and there's no major issue with it. It's just a nuisance that it's happening

Factory resetting the device is different from wiping the cache.
You won't lose any data from a cache wipe, you will with a reset.

Wiping cache does not require your device to be connected to a PC. The rep was likely running some kind of diagnostic software.

It's possible that there would be certain error fixes included in security patches, but I wouldn't bank on that.

Again, I would venture to guess that the software issues you describe are likely T Mobile specific and probably have to do with carrier modifications in some way, as I have not heard of any such issues with factory unlocked devices.

If neither following the steps I provided nor visiting a T mobile store resolve your issue, try visiting a certified Samsung repair center instead.

I'd venture to say that if it's lagging on the T-Mobile splash screen, it's optimizing while booting.  I get the same sometimes when booting up on my factory unlocked phone, except after the Samsung logo appears on screen, there's a delay and then it says "optimizing" with a progress indicator.  I think that probably T-Mobile does not have this, so it appears it's a lag.  It could also be that the process of putting the entire update in place is still happening.  It still doesn't mean that the OP should skip the cache wipe and app optimization.

Possible explanation for the splash screen. Hadn't considered that. Still wouldn't account for screen flickering.

I think there is a software bug with the unlock transition. I took it off and it hasn't happened since

After a update monthly or ui the screen will show optimization apps and goes thru for few seconds that's normal

So it will only really lag when shutting down the phone. When I do a reset the shutdown process with it. Doesn't really lag to much when booting up. Sometimes it lasts a little longer but not as long as the shutdown process. I called T-Mobile they said alot of people are experiencing issues after the ui 8. App crashing and UI crashing. Slow downs and alot of lagging. He said theyve been getting a lot of calls from people that are experiencing a lot of issues

I'm getting strange emails about cloud security expiration and they're asking me for renewal $$$$

Ignore them.  It's phishing - unless you actually have a subscription for cloud security.  Samsung's cloud storage for backups is protected by Samsung security.  Google's cloud storage is protected by Google's security.  One Drive is protected by Microsoft's security.  There would be no reason to ever pay for cloud security.  These emails are designed to get you to panic and click the link to get the "charge" removed, and, thus, get your credit card info to "reverse the charge".  Mark them as spam and don't even open them.
