You can turn them off. First you have to enable notification categories. Go to settings/notifications/advanced settings/manage notification categories for each app. Slide that on then return to the store app notification settings and click on the categories and turn off the slider for everything, except the one you can't. If you don't enable categories, you will not be able to turn the app notifications off.
