The borders on false advertising. The body mass detector for the Galaxy watch 5 pro is terrible and does not work at all. It is so incredibly inconsistent it borders on being useless. It will have a change in skeletal muscle of 10 lb within two readings on the same day which is not physically possible. It also takes at least 10 tries to get it to work even once. Absolute garbage can't believe this feature was released despite being so incomplete

It is also very possible you are not doing it correctly.  It is an awkward stance one has to take and awkward finger placement, but if you don't do it correctly, you will get inconsistent results.  Let's not even mention that BMI is a bogus measurement anyway.

It's not measuring your BMI though. That's just height and weight that you enter. I've tried this feature for a year and always put my fingers on the probes as directed. It's just wildly inconsistent even with multiple readings back to back

There IS a whole lot wrong with BMI in general. BMI was developed using the measurements of US male soldiers during WWII just after The Great Depression where the majority of the population were malnourished and shorter. BMI didn't include the measurements of women during is it's original formulations. The medical community has been talking about overhauling BMI for decades, and it has been the focus of serious concerns in our times. For more information about the history and medical concerns about using BMI in a modern world, please consult your web browser.

Despite all this, BMI is still the current medical standard for determining body mass and, therefore, it isn't wrong for Samsung to include it in their Health app.

But this feature doesn't measure bmi. BMI is just weight and height that you enter. I'm talking about the skeletal mass and body fat that it's supposed to measure with the buttons on the side. I didn't read any of what you wrote too bc it's irrelevant and wrong lol

Your skeletal, muscle fat, mass, and body water are all a percentage of change, not pounds. If you go into the informational section, it will explain the BMI reading and how it fluctuates according to your body type and build.

It doesn't measure bmi though. That is calculated from height and weight. And it's not measuring a change bc it's giving a number in pounds
