Any ideas on why my watch 6 classic started counting steps while doing other exercises? (Stationary bike). IT NEVER DID THIS PRIOR TO THE BIG UPDATE A COUPLE OF MONTHS AGO. Not a show stopper but very irritating. Any input would be appreciated

Why shouldn't it? You can't do most exercises without moving your arms. Steps are counted on the watch by arm movement (which is why it doesnt count steps when your watch arm is stationary). In any case, I would certainly count movement while exercising as steps.

So a 30 minute session on the stationary bike would result in 3400 steps? It never did this until the update

Well, a stationary bike shouldn't count steps unless you are swinging your arms instead of holding the handlebars -- unless it's the type of bike where the handlebars move as well.  You don't, by any chance, also have your phone in your pocket while riding?  The phone counts steps differently but combines the count with the watch. Maybe the update added a different counting method for the steps, as many people have been complaining their steps aren't being counted when they are pushing a stroller or shopping cart or otherwise have their watch arm engaged.  There's not going to be a perfect counting method.  This is from the health app:

Mine often counts a few in my sleep, so it's not super precise. (No I don't sleep walk 😁)

1UI VERSION 6.0 watch. It's on my 5ro as well. Does the same thing since the update.

I got the watch 7 recently which has the 6.0 system on it.  I have not had an opportunity to work out with it yet since it's been in the 50s here in south FL and I swim in an outdoor pool.

Not a huge problem. Just noticed it few weeks ago. Still great devices. Mainly used to monitor HR and active time.
