I have bought this watch to use it as standalone device. Without need for syncing it via BT with smartphone. I need it as productivity device. Bought this as there is built in callender which allows you tu add events inside watch, so no need to do it in smartphone. Howeever when event is set, and times come it acts completely randomly. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesnt. It can show event notification silenty, or with vibrations, or with sound, (i dont think i have experienced both together), or not at all. I am playing with it whole day. I just cant figure out whats is happening. So i guess yours firmware is broken.

The Google calendar app for the watch is a companion app, but it stands alone. It syncs with your Google account, so you can use your Google calendar from any device. Samsung Calendar is only usable and synced on Samsung devices. You can sync the two calendars, so adding to one will add to the other. You can set your watch to have to Google calendar send you the notifications rather than Samsung calendar. That's what I do. I don't use Samsung calendar at all, but I have them synced because the watch tile is only for Samsung calendar.
