Home TheaterHello,
Recently got a Q990D sound bar.
Have noticed that when the system is in 'adaptive sound mode' you can hear a soft pop noise if you pause, fast forward/rewind, or exit movies or TV shows.
If I enable pass through mode for earc the sub woofer will also make a small double pop noise.
Any ideas/ remedies?

Home TheaterHey,
I have a Q990D soundbar and I can confirm there is a soft pop noise coming from the sub too! I've noticed that on YouTube when you pause a video this pop noise can be heard as well (doesn't matter the sound mode, can be either adaptive/surround).
This only happens when soundbar is connected via eARC port.
Tried on BT and there are no pop noises.
However, I'm not worried about that, it's true that I had some other Samsung soundbars before this one (Q990B, Q800C) and I couldn't hear that pop noise on them, but I am not bothered for that. In fact, I'm happy that this time around, the sub is more disciplined and while set to 0, it rumbles the room and it's more balanced without playing around with the volume every now and then so that my walls won't get destroyed.
If your soundbar plays well, without other weird noises coming out of it, you're good!

Home TheaterThank you for your input, sounds like it might be a more common experience than I previously thought.
The sound bar sounds great, but perplexed by the pops as I wasn't sure if it was a hardware fault, really did not want to take it for inspection as I have had it for 3 weeks. I have noticed it most frequently with 5.1 sound, hoping future soft ware update will help.
Thanks again š

Home TheaterI'm gonna be honest with you: don't set high expectations from software updates...
Most likely this won't get fixed by a software update. My guess is that it's more like a hardware thing than a software thing since this year we've got an improvement over HDMI ports (2.1 vs 2.0 from last years).
Also, they never share any changelogs for this updates so you'll never know what was improved after the update, but from my experience with both Q990B and Q800C, I could never tell that something really got improved... After the update, this would just feel like a placebo effect, and you'll just struggle to find any difference.
No reason to bother with inspections, as they'll most likely return it back just the same since... this might be considered normal behavior.
