Kitchen and Family HubMy American fridge freezer Model RSG5UCRS. Freezer was showing -23 but was actually -3 or -5 this was evident in that the food was not frozen properly and by using a professional thermal probe.
Now this appeared to happen after a power outage but that is not unusual around here but I pulled the unit out switched it off for several minutes to force the reset and took the opportunity to take the rear bottom cover off to clean everything although the compressor coils are on the underside in this model and very difficult to get to but I took the kick panel off the front vacuumed as much as I can and what I can see looks fairly clean.
I ordered a fan for the freezer, temperature sensor and thermal cut out. The fan was actually fine but I changed it anyway and the temperature sensor and thermal cut (the old ones that came out also tested fine) but no change -23 displayed -5 minimum tested. Turned down to -18 as this is more normal but still no charge.
Basis self test (two top buttons) all fine, no LED on the PCB board on this model so no help, still producing ice but this partially melts and sticks together. forced test (two top and fridge button) gives me four flashing segments but I can find the key for this in the service manual.
My thought is to replace the PCB board but anyone else got any advise?
