Samsung Fridge Not Cooling or Freezing

Hey everyone.

I have a Samsung Fridge (model number: rf267aers) that is not cooling or freezing. I want to see if anyone in here knows what the culprit is and how to fix it so I can see if it’s worth fixing myself. I’m on a tight budget right now and can’t really afford a new one or to have someone fix it. Also don’t think it’s on warranty anymore.

Here’s the issue: about 2 years ago the freezer stopped working consistently. It would go long periods of time, about 3-6 months with being unable to stay at the right temp and then another few months where it would. Wasn’t really an issue at the time because I had a chest freezer I used. Fast forward to last year, the fridge was having issues. It would have periods of time where it couldn’t get below 50f, and then would go back to the right temp after a bit. I used a mini fridge during the 50f times to get by. The fridge finally stopped working completely a few months back and now it doesn’t get cold at all. It did start to display an error code right before it stopped working but I unfortunately don’t remember what it was. Trying to make it work in the mini fridge has been rough so I’m trying to see if I can fix it myself. Any advice and knowledge would be greatly appreciated. Thank you very much!

Could it be a shortage in the cord?

You should check with Samsung on your warranty status.  If it's the sealed refrigeration parts (condenser/compressor), I believe they are warranted for 5 or 10 years. You probably should have called them 2 years ago.
