Microwave time keeps resetting

I have an MC17T8000CS that has had issues in the past (weak heating, error codes, etc.) that were fixed under warranty. Another issue that was always present but never addressed was how it would periodically reset its time to 12:00 AM. It is now out of warranty and it's not worth getting serviced, but this is an annoying issue to have on a $600+ microwave.

What makes it extra frustrating is that the clock does not stay at 12:00 AM in a "blinking" state like you would expect (like every other piece of consumer electronics), the clock starts ticking normally! This has caused missed appointments when we rely on quickly glancing at the displayed time. Why did Samsung engineers think this was a good idea? Can this behavior be fixed in a future firmware update?

@SonOfDitlev It sounds like either the AC house power is unreliable to the microwave. Or the microwave's power supply, or logic board. Something is wrong. It shouldn't be happening.

As far as what happens when it resets, we have some kitchen appliances that stay at blinking 12:00 and some that show the amount of time from the reset. None of our appliances with clocks are Samsung appliances. So it's not a Samsung thing, just something that some devices do. I'm guessing it relates to the clock chips or boards that have been used.

@LongHiker seeing as how I've had issues in the past with the microwave, and none of my other appliances have any power/reset issues (including my Samsung range), my money is on the microwave. I don't plan to throw any more money at it, this has been happening pretty much the entire time I've owned it, including after multiple service calls (in which I believe they replaced the logic board, inverter, and I think the power supply). Pretty sorry indictment on Samsung product development and QA that a $600 microwave can't even keep time correctly, and also a sad statement on how their warranty service contractors handle issues by just throwing parts at a problem.

As far as showing a blinking 12:00 not being a "Samsung thing", apparently it is a "Samsung thing" to just start running the clock at an arbitrary time. I've never seen any other device behave that way, and can't get my head around why the logic was set up that way.
