Hi, my Samsung Q90 82" OLED started showing white static lines randomly, some times they show up and sometimes they don't.  Any suggestions on the cause and if there is a way to fix?

It doesn't appear to be specific to an input (I just the Samsung harmon/kardon soundbar for hdmi inputs).  If I put on my Apple TV it happens, and if I turn it off and just use the Samsung native interface it happens.

Also can't get the settings menu up, the remote buttons aren't working as expected (though I know the remote itself works because power on/off works every time).

Thanks for any help you can give,

Peter

I would check your cables and for loose connections. You could try to unplug the tv from the outlet for a few minutes, then plug the tv back in to see if that may help.

Thanks, I did check cables, haven't tried unplugging, will do when it happens again.

Factory reset the TV. It could be corrupt firmware.

So I tried unplugging it and that does help, the problem goes away and the TV works.  Issue is, when I turn the tv off and then on again the issue usually returns (though not 100% of the time).  Unplugging again typically helps.  So that is what I have been doing then leaving it on all day.

Trying to do a factory reset as @3Fees suggested, but I cannot get the Samsung menus on the screen.  I unplugged my AppleTVs HDMI cable and turn the TV on but just get the staticky screen below, or a blank (black) screen.  When I press the home button I hear a sound as if it is doing something but nothing happens, same with other buttons.  I can turn the TV off and on so the remote is working.  Once a video came on, not sure what Samsung channel that was (says Movie Hub Holiday in the corner), but none of the buttons on the remote worked while it was on (except on/off).  So I can't do a factory reset at this point.

Anyone know if there is a way to do it with a combination of buttons or some other way without the menus?

Also open to any other suggestions?

Thanks again for the advice,

Peter

Check your connections to the TV and see if they are tight and secure as was mentioned.

If you have warranty, get it repaired.

Thanks, I already checked all the connections unfortunately, no issues there.  Bought it in 2020 so guessing it is not longer covered, but will take a look.

Thanks
