My TV has recently developed (about 3 weeks ago) a Black Screen Flashing (on/off) randomly on all inputs including native APPS. It's like the video goes to a black screen for 1sec and then returns to video. This could happen just 1-5 times in a 3min span, and sometimes is continuous like a loop. It's more frequent on APPS and HDR content. Game Mode is the worst of them all, I had to turn it off to be somewhat usable.

I have replaced all HDMI cables to 8k (certified) and ran the HDMI Cable Test to confirm that no issues with cables are present. I have even disconnected all HDMI cables and the issue persist even on menus. The only thing I have not tested is a factory reset as I don't want to re-configure all the settings / APPS. The TV is almost 1yr old.

Could this be a warranty hardware issue? Any other troubleshooting advice?

Hi @Members_LmilcsR!  Thank you for reaching out.  This is bound to be annoying, so let's get you back watching TV.  The first thing that comes to mind is you power source.  Are you currently plugged into a surge protector?  If you are, try plugging the television into an outlet directly to see if that changes.  Another thing that I can think of is the firmware version.  Lastly, are all of your devices plugged into the television directly or are they connected through a receiver?  That can cause issues as well.  

 

Give these things a try and let us know if they help.  If they don't the next suggested steps would be a reset and lastly a service tech.  But let us know if this helps!  If it doesn't please come back and we can begin scheduling service.

Thanks for the advice! I'm starting to think this could be a hardware related issue.

As I have 2 APC Pure Sine Wave UPS. I try connecting to both individually and directly to the power outlet, got the same issue with all 3. Last night I upgraded the firmware from 1430 to 2000.2 and the issue persisted.

I do have an AVR connected to the ARC input and an Xbox X connected to the game input. I did removed all HDMI cables and the issue persisted when using apps like Prime, MAX, etc. without any HDMI connected to the Tv. Both HDMI cables where replaced with certified 8k high bandwidth cables to rule out cable issues.

It's like the TV panel it's turning on/off very quickly but the front panel power light (red) is not turning on, so it does not appears to be power related. The screen goes completely black and then returns to the full image. Sometimes it's very quickly < 1 sec., other times it takes between 1-2 sec.

At this moment, my last troubleshooting resort is a full factory reset. But I don't think it will work either.

I'll report back later today or tomorrow.

Reset seems to somewhat alleviate the issue; but the black screen flicker still persists to lesser extend. Have opened a support ticket and they will call back to coordinate a technician visit.

Thank for all the suggestions so far.

Will report back.
