NEVER TRUST updates from anywhere other than Google Play for non Samsung apps! Updates for non Samsung apps on Galaxy Store (like Netflix update) are NOT official updates and "may" contain Trojan components. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED :warning:

Why does Samsung allow updates for apps that are NOT their app on the Galaxy Store?! Doing so opens up possibly of Trojan components that can harm or steal your information. Google Play has enough issues dealing with hacked apps.

Great example is the Netflix update that has been sitting in the Galaxy Store for some time now that is NOT an official update, and cannot be turned off or removed! I have also seen banking apps show up in the Galaxy Store too. THIS IS DANGEROUS AND UNPROFESSIONAL for Samsung to allow this to be happening!

How do you know they are so called "trojans?"

Don't know for sure, but when the official developer apps are updated in the Google Play store (where Google takes strenuous effort to screen apps there), do not match what is in the Galaxy Store, it is VERY suspicious. Apps like Zoom, Netflix, various banking apps, email apps, etc showing up in the Galaxy Store that do not match the updates in the Google Play store, just screems red flags (or at least it should). But if you don't care if there are nefarious apps in your phone, then go ahead and get your app updates wherever you please. Do you mind sharing your cc number with me? I could use some new bling.

Sorry, but I don't really use the Galaxy Store. I don't think I could help out, unfortunately.

Hello MountianMan, Welcome to the Community. We understand the concern with updates for 3rd party apps being available in the Galaxy Store.

The 3rd party app updates appear in the Galaxy Store because the Store can see the apps downloaded to the phone, regardless of where they are downloaded from. If an update is available, it will appear as an option in the Galaxy Store.

But I have updated my Netflix app several times from Google Play since the update has appeared in the Galaxy Store, but yet the one in the Galaxy Store is still there asking me to update it there. Others have also complained about this in the store.

Why you even allow or offer updates for 3rd party apps there, I can not understand. For one, they are not Samsung apps, and another, there is too much opportunity for nefarious updates to happen when you allow 3rd party apps in your Store. Google Play has taken huge efforts to rid nefarious apps from their Play store, yet some apps slip through. Your GS allowing 3rd party updates just opens the possibilities for trouble.

I download most of my apps from the Galaxy store and never had a issue with any of them they are official apps from the developer.

If they are "official apps from the developer," then why is the official updates from the developer different in the Google Play store?

Because the ones in the playstore are made for every device that has google play and the ones in the Galaxy store are optimized to Galaxy devices

I've never had an issue either on Galaxy apps. Google is a last resort for me. Lucky if once a month. Too many really bad viruses, malware, spyware, and malicious apps are on there. Especially banking apps. Googleā€™s own software apps are spyware, why they are kept off.

Why I get 4 to 5 days battery life.
