Hello.

There is a Samsung Notes note that is extremely important to me. I created it probably years ago on my Samsung smartphone and I update it weekly with important work-related content. It's become veeeeery long over the years.

OK, if it's important I should have made a dupòicate somewhere, right? I didn't, and I'm a fool, I know it.

Anyway, today I opened it to add more content to it, and I discovered that a lot of the text that was there until yesterday has disappeared!

I don't know if it's some kind of "crash" or I accidentally deleted it somehow. I think it's probably the latter. Maybe I highlighted a major snipped of text in the note and then I clicked "cut"? I suspect something like that happened.

Be that as it may, I'm DESPERATE. Can you help me out? Is there a way to get back to previous version of the note? Can the deletion be undone?

Thank you!

Stefano

Everyone, I have a felicitous update on my situation. I've just found a note among my, well, Samsung Notes, that appears to be "the one", i.e. the old note with the part of the text missing still there.

So I now have two notes that are basically copies of one another, only that one of them is an incomplete copy.

So I'm basically going to delete the incomplete note and keep using the complete one, and I'm also going to save this complete note somewhere immediately just in case.

I'm not sure, though, what the heck heppened.

Just why was an incomplete copy of the complete note created in the first place?

Anyway, all's well that ends well.

Thank you very much.

If you had the phone on the whole time, you can retrieve the cut part from the clipboard. If not, well, I'll leave that to the experts to comment on that.

Nothing's relevant in the clipboard. Probably I didn't accidentally clipboard the missing text, I just probably kept the backspace button pressed for several seconds, and then I simply exited the note, saving the new version with the missing text.

I wonder if there's a limit to the Note of words. Maybe it didn't save quickly due to the amount of note taking you have. Maybe next time you are note taking you can save it and then recheck opeNing it to ensure the content was successful with saving. Sometimes I'll close a document and see a spinning circle. Maybe your note was updating to save but was interrupted or didn't have wifi to sync their settings. Note should have version history that could be very helpfu.

While the note was very long, it was still way below whatever "too much text" threshold might be in place. It was mostly phone numbers and addresses that I was adding over the months...

Oh okay. Do you ever password protect your notes? I like that feature a lot. But recovery of previous versions option would be nice to have.
