Messages app crashing

My Samsung Messages app keeps closing. I've restarted my phone multiple times. I've gone to Settings > App Settings > Messages > Storage and hit Clear cache and Clear data. When I do this, the space used for cache and data go down to 0, but then immediately go back up to the original storage amounts when I reopen Messages.

I found a previous conversation about Messages crashing in Dec 2023 and tried following the instructions but when I held down the power button and volume up with the phone turned off, the phone restarted as normal, even though I held them down until after the Samsung logo disappeared.

If I can't fix it, can I install a different app for

My Google storage is 94% full. Could that be connected?

Uninstall Google Meet - that solves the problem.

Mone has been crashing since last evening. I cleared the cache is message app and un-installed Google Meet. Fixed it right away!

This is ridiculous app keeps closing losing money because I'm on call maintenance and I only receive texts from work this needs fixed plus the new update I have problem with the battery plug in using fast charger not reading I have 4 brand new ones needs fixed.

Google Meet isn't showing as an App on my phone. I can't force stop it.

Same here. This morning was/is a mess. Can not hold it open to send a text.

I receive texts, no way to response.

Will try to download another app from play store. Hope and pray that I will be able to transfer the texts to the new app.

i went into apps and found something called Meet, which I think is google meet.  I disabled it.  Presto.  Messages stopped crashing immediately
