Why Does USB PD Charging Pause While Gaming?

I've noticed something strange when it comes to charging while gaming. Whenever I connect a charger that supports Power Delivery (PD), the battery status shows that it's charging, as seen in the picture. This concerns me. However, when I enable battery protection from the settings, which prevents the charge from stopping at 80%, I see that the battery status switches to “calculating.”

I'm specifically talking about the "Pause USB PD charging when gaming" feature to prevent overheating. Has anyone else experienced this? Any insights on why this happens?

How does charging stop and in games as in the picture it says in the battery status that it is charging. This is what worries me

Charging would not be paused under the following conditions:

Even if a game is running, the feature will not work if other actions are being performed, such as turning off the screen or switching to another screen. 
If the battery has less than 20% charge or if a non-PD charger is connected to the device, the battery will continue to charge according to standard operating procedures.
