Secure folder stuck in "Secure folder lock type" menu

I know the password & the secure folder synced with samsung account. When I tried to access the secure folder, knowing the password, it "Wrong Password". I clicked the Forgot Password option, I logged into my Samsung account, tried to change the password, but after changing the password, the loading screen appears and the protected folder crashes. After this happened, I opened the protected folder again and it was stuck in "Secure folder lock type" menu again. I tried clearing Secure Folder cache and uninstalling Samsung Account updates. It didn't help.

I even booted the device in safe mode, fixing the apps, uninstalling the update and installing an update for secure folder, wipe the cache partition and unfortunately none of them worked.

I also used the quick shortcut app and used the app links to open different parts of secure folder, but every thing (except the lock type menu)crashes, even in gallery when you want to move something to secure folder it says "Move to null"!!!

(I think somehow the secure folder got corrupted after the phone suddenly crashed and auto restarted)

I know you can reset the device back to factory settings or completely wipe the storage and than installing the os via PC, but thas a lot of work and time witch I don't have!

I would appreciate anyone that can help to solve it!

additional info:

android 11

secure folder 1.7.03.10

Hi, Try wiping the cache partition to see if that helps. It's simple and safe and won't remove your settings or app files. It clears unnecessary files, some of which may be corrupt.

Follow the steps below, If you wish to go ahead:

Clear the cache partition
- Shut the phone off (shut down)
- Press and hold the Volume Up key, then press and hold the Side key.
- When the Android system recovery menu options show release buttons.
- Press the Volume down key several times to highlight wipe cache partition.
- Press Side key to select.
- Press the Volume down key to highlight yes, then press the Side key to select.
- When the wipe cache partition is complete, Reboot system now is highlighted.
- Press the Side key to restart the device. Recovery-Mode-on-Samsung-Phone_1000000612_1728437754.jpg

Try "force stop" secure folder, then turn the phone off for 1 minute, then back on.

Hmm šŸ˜® Did you uninstall the secure folder app itself? Go to your apps section in device settings > choose secure folder > secure folder settings > uninstall option. Are you able to get inside of the secure folder to access it's settings at all?

Hi again!

yep, you can't actually uninstall the app itself but the thing you can do is uninstalling the update and unfortunately you can't delete it from settings anymore because of a security os update from Android 11.

I was able to uninstall the update using ES file explorer but that did not work...

I currently have the latest version of secure folder but before the update it didn't make a difference at allšŸ˜”

Sorry I couldn't be any help to you. I would reach out to samsung on the main homepage of this app (members)and tap support, and they can access your device remotely to diagnose the issue. Just make sure to back up your device before contacting Samsung.
