How to change the way I open my tablet

I have a Galaxy Tab A9+ Tablet 11" 64GB Android & I cannot figure out how to open it with just swiping. I turn it on (it sure takes a while to open) & have to swipe up, then I have to enter a password. How do I change it to just swiping to open it? I also own a Fire tablet & I only have to swipe up to open it.  I have only had the Galaxy for 2 weeks & it isn't as user-friendly as the Fire. Any help would be appreciated.

Settings->Lock Screen->Screen Lock Type->Remove all the locks.
