Hi,

I wanted a hard wire Ethernet connection for my Samsung Galaxy Tab S11  and picked up a SABRENT USB-C to 5G Ethernet Adapter.

The tablet seems to recognize the adapter when plugged. I get an Ethernet On.

But if I turn off WiFi, there's no Internet connection. Yes, I've tested the switch port and cable on another computer, and it works fine.

Is this just an incompatible adapter?

Please help.

Thanks.

Michael

Did  you turn auto blocker off?  If it's on, it may be preventing data throughput through the USB port.

Wi-fi is not necessary to be on for a wired internet connection.  But, having auto blocker off is.  The whole point of having a wired internet connection is so one does not have to use Wi-Fi.  It's also faster.

Agree, Hard line is always faster than WiFi. My primary motivation.  Even though my WiFi is just fine.

Weird that the auto-blocker has to be turned off entirely for the Ethernet. One would think they would create an exception for that. But I guess they don't know if it's going through a hub.

Anyhow, everything is working fine now.

The auto blocker will block any data flowing into or out of the USB port, including via an ethernet adapter.  All the phone knows is that some USB device wants to get exchange data with your device.  You would run into the same issue if you just wanted to transfer data between a flash drive and your phone.  It's to prevent someone from attaching a connection to your device and copying your personal data or putting malicious programs on.  This can be just as easily done through a wired internet connection as it can be through a flash drive or computer connection.
