Tab S9 FE+, fully up to date. Using a Bluetooth external keyboard (HOU Keyboard Case). When I have Samsung Keyboard set as default, the onscreen keyboard often shows up when tapping a text entry field even if I turn off the option to show the onscreen keyboard while using the physical keyboard. This has apparently been an issue for the past year, based on a thread I saw here in the Members app. I've already tried turning off the "Show Keyboard Button in Navigation Bar" option.

Also, if I change the default keyboard to Gboard, the onscreen keyboard stops popping up -- however, there's a prominent and inexplicable black bar that appears at the bottom of the screen, taking up valuable real estate while typing. I'm sharing a couple of screenshots, one without the bar, and the other with the bar (which showed up after tapping a text entry field -- it's sloppily circled in blue).  Anyone know of a fix?

What browser is that chrome? Not really sure maybe it's there in lieu of the on screen keyboard that seems to have an issue. It's it like that got others apps?or specifically for the Samsung members website. I wonder if your browser permissions have anything to do with it.

Here this may help you from Google

Navigate to Physical Keyboard:
* General Management > Language and Input > Physical Keyboard (This path may vary slightly depending on your Samsung tablet's One UI version).
* Disable "Show on-screen keyboard": Find the option to disable the on-screen keyboard when using a physical keyboard and turn it off.
2. Adjust Navigation Bar
* Go to Settings: Open the Settings app.
* Navigate to Display:
* Display > Navigation bar
* Disable "Show button to hide keyboard": This option might be interfering with the proper behavior of the on-screen keyboard when using an external keyboard.

Also, try another keyboard and what happens?

Hi userella, I appreciate the reply! The browser I typically use is Chrome, but I just tested on Samsung Internet, and the same behavior happens there.

I've already turned off the "Show on-screen keyboard" option in the Physical Keyboard menu, and that didn't help. There is no similar option in the Navigation Bar menu.

I mentioned in my original post that the bar at the bottom doesn't appear when I set Samsung Keyboard as the default -- but the problem with Samsung Keyboard when used with a physical keyboard is that the onscreen keyboard keeps showing up when tapping a text field, even when the option to show onscreen keyboard is turned off.

Tapping the touchpad with 2 fingers to get a context menu doesn't do anything about the bar at the bottom.

Tap lightly with 2 fingers to open context menu from your mouse pad, could that be it?

That's interesting when I connected my bt keyboard to my phone, a little square popped up on the corner when I was typing in this box. It did not show when I went to landscape mode. I'm not sure, sorry. I took a screenshot, but the box did not appear. Not sure what could be but maybe a margin, not sure the correct term. Like, a sprite. Sorry about your issue.

Yeah, that little square was probably the keyboard toolbar. I think that blank bar might be used for things like predictive text, but it'd be nice to completely get rid of it if I want all of those things off. I thought switching to Samsung Keyboard as the default would be the answer, since the blank bar doesn't show up when using it, but then there's the problem with the onscreen keyboard showing up whenever I tap on a text entry field even though it's set not to show up. šŸ˜ž

I read Goggle Gemini did to disable and uninstall gboard. That it can cause conflicts. Also, to re pair the bt connection, oh your keyboard, and clear the data and cache of the Samsung keyboard app. I love Samsung keyboard and use predictable text, so I do see that it looks like that. Under language and input settings, I had to update English and other languages. Be sure to check yours for an update. Do you use navigation buttons, or do you use touch input. Maybe seitch to navigation buttons. Really, no idea, sorry.

Uninstalling Gboard did not help, nor did clearing the app cache/data for Samsung Keyboard. It's up to date. Changing to navigation buttons did not help either, because the blank bar that's been bugging me is simply replaced by the permanent navigation bar. My goal is to maximize screen real estate while using a physical keyboard. (I really don't think unpairing and re-pairing the keyboard will do anything, because this seems more of a software issue.)

Yeah. You know more than me. I think you're right. Hopefully, a seasoned developer will read this post. I hold off on getting a tablet then. I use the keyboard a lot.
