A Series & Other MobileI got my new Galaxy A35 14 Oct 2024. It has a single spot for a physical SIM and a spot for a micro SDHC card. Software on the phone states 2 eSIMs can be active at the same time. Up to this time I had been using 2 smartphones with physical SIMs, one for Boost Mobile (this SIM had just died completely the day I got my A35) and one for Visible cell phone network (that SIM had been working intermittently. Sometimes the Visible phone would tell me the SIM was not there at all).
I moved the old Visible SIM card into the A35, signed on to that network, used the online Visible resource to download a Visible eSIM and activated it on the A35. Visible told me the old physical SIM card now would no longer work. I removed that SIM card, rebooted & connected to the Visible network.
I connected to Boost Mobile through the newly installed app on the A35, and was able to directly download a Boost Mobile eSIM from the company.
With these 2 eSIMs installed, I had to choose the principal cell phone network, but there was an option on the A35 for the eSIMs to switch between each other if one network was not reachable.
At that point I was operating with 2 eSIMS and no physical SIM just fine. This worked for the next 9 days. I had no trouble making and receiving calls and text messages from both networks. On the 10th day of ownership I lost all cell phone connectivity for no apparent reason. I couldn't make or receive calls or text messages on either network.
I had Google Voice installed on the phone as an app. No one could reach that number on my cell phone either. I was unable to call anyone and couldn't receive txt msgs.
Using my laptop I was able to make and receive calls and text messages on Google Voice over the internet. I worked on this issue the rest of the afternoon.
I was able to quickly contact Boost Mobile. They said they would send a physical Boost Mobile SIM in a few days. It has yet to arrive.
It occurred to me this might be a problem with my eSIMs. I inactivated the Boost Mobile eSIM and left the Visible eSIM working.
The phone then rebooted with the single remaining eSIM (for Visible) working. Immediately I received multiple text messages over the Visible network, messages that had been delayed all day. I was able to make and receive phone calls on Visible. My Google Voice app also started working normally on the A35.
I have no real idea why this worked. I just had a hunch to remove the Boost Mobile eSIM and use a single eSIM to connect to the other cell provider.
I hope this helps other users.
