All voice recordings "automatically" deleted due to low storage space

Hello forum,

My name is Cesar, I am a musician and have owned my Samsung A15 for roughly a year now. As I gather files quickly on my device, in recent days, I have had low storage space and continuously kept getting notifications from my device to clear up space and also some instances of the camera app not working etc.

Today, when opening my voice recordings app to take up a song I had been working on previously, I was scared beyond comprehension to find my 2000+ song ideas and full songs (from since I first got this phone) from the native Voice Recorder to be *missing* from the list. After some quick research, I find some suggesting that this is apparently a known problem, recordings going missing due to getting "automatically" deleted to clear up storage.

However, I can not possibly believe that Samsung or Android would knowingly have put such a function, to - without any sort of user consent - clear up tens of GBs of files as if they were disposable. Surely there must be other circumstances and applications for the voice recorder where such a functionality must be even much more devastating - say, in the case with making memos of business meetings etc etc. This is - at least for me, if this were to be true - without exaggeration of the gravity that I can probably never see myself using any smartphone ever again. I have had more than enough of this type of authoritative control from big tech and this is absolutely absurd to me. As I see it, this goes so much further than the recordings - these companies again and again deciding what's important, what's appropriate, what's allowed, when so, how so etc etc.

These files would have been deleted only within the last few days, during which time I believe I have not gathered any new videos or similar to take up this "cleared" space. Does anyone have any clues as to the most effective way to recover these files ASAP? What do I do first to stop the further overwriting of files? Will it be of any help to get an SD card temporarily to transfer some of the bigger files on my device to clear up space on the internal storage, or will that sort of moving files etc. put the recovery files at bigger risk? Is there any native way to recover these or will I need a 3rd party app - if so, which is the best for this type of purpose? I am ready to pay any money for this.

Thank you so much for any assistance on this, I am eternally grateful for anything to help me in the right directionšŸ™šŸ™šŸ™

Kindest regards, Cesar

@phaserflanger Sorry that you have experienced this. I would suggest that you should determine a backup plan. You are using a budget device with limited storage. At the minimum, I would get a microSD card and store your important files there. Personally I would also use cloud storage. I would ensure all the files are on cloud storage as soon as possible.

I'm so sorry to hear of the loss of your files.

Unfortunately, I know of no way to recover your files; however, going forward, IMHO, the best thing you can do is subscribe to a cloud service. Most have a free option, but have limited GB storage, but you can try them out before investing in a plan for more data storage. This way, should your phone be lost, stolen, or damaged, your files are safely located on a third party, off-sight server.

Please familiarize yourself with your phone's EULA (End User Licensing Agreement). A copy of which can be found on your device under Settings. You may actually discover, that by using your Samsung phone, you've agreed to Samsung managing your software experience, which can include deleting files to strengthen performance or install a security update.

I'm so very sorry.

Hello All,
I just want to understand why there is no AI functionality with the voice recorder application on the Galaxy Tablet S10 Ultra as it is on the S24 Ultra. We pay a premium price for these devices, and Samsung should provide us with premium native applications.
