Deleting individual Messages but not the whole conversation?

Is there a way to delete individual messages not the whole conversation on the A25.

I have this problem on Google message installed with 25 ultra.
On Samsung there was a recycle bin - not on Google I also lost an entire message which was ongoing only wanted to delete one...

Tap and hold the specific message and delete that specific message.

Just wanted to add if you select more than one it'll just leave the trash icon.

Long press on any individual message and you will see a delete button.
