I hereby attach a screen shot of an icon which appears on the navigation bar time to time and disappears within a couple of seconds. can you please tell what the symbol means.

It reminds me of the keyboard on a beeper, or a touch tone phone

Clicking that icon will rotate the screen. To make it go away,  click the "Portrait" icon in the quick panel to enable auto-rotate.
