A Series & Other MobileFor example the "back button" only goes back but doesn't really close the app. You extra have to use the "app button III" and then swipe up to close an app. Just add "force quit app" by holding the back button. Same with "home button" only allows Google assistant/gemini. Please add hold home button for screenshot.
Add features and let us choose with function we want on which button.
Thank you

A Series & Other MobileScreen shot is already mapped to pressing the volume down and power button simultaneously or swiping . There are only so many functions a button can have. They do actually go into stasis or time out. The recent apps list just makes it easy to reopen your most recently used app and back to where you were, they do not use resources while in that state. The background apps that use resources are the ones enumerated in the circled number next to the menu. So, big deal, it takes an extra swipe to close an app or to hit the "close all" button, is your life going to be any shorter by doing so? If freeing memory is your goal, you can add one of the device care widgets to your home screen for easy memory cleaning.

A Series & Other MobileThank you for answering. Yes button functions can be limited but the app button and back button only have 1 function. My Xiaomi app button opens the app list with 1 click. With hold it halves the screen into 2 windows. Double clicking quickly switches between the 2 last used apps. Samsung doesn't switch between the last 2 but goes from far right to far left (bad and useless).
Xiaomi Back button click goes back.
Xiaomi holding back button force quits the current app/window. (Very good and useful)
Why? Because as a heavy user I can instantly close a window I don't need anymore and it's gone. Out of my mind. Unlike with Samsung, I don't have to repeat the same hand tiring motion of stretching the thumb across the screen and swiping up over and over again, for every single window I want to close.
And if I don't close every app instantly, I have to put time into identifying which is which window I want to close in a big list of windows.
Samsung has so many better functions than my xiaomi mi9tpro and there is absolutely no excuse being inferior regarding this problem.
Also I could choose how I wanted the functions mapped and the functions worked always 100% and never went into stasis/stand by.

A Series & Other MobileOnce you exit out of the app, you don't ever have to think about it again, unless you have reason to swipe up for the recent apps screen. You can have multiple apps open on a split screen to use both at once or go back and forth. The nature of competition as that different brand phones have different features; you choose your phone by the one that has the features you want/need most. If this is important to you, stick with your Xiaomi. The more things they add to the phone, the more expensive it becomes. Just how expensive do you want your phone to be? Should Samsung become the world's most expensive phone by having every single feature imaginable included? Also, what you fail to realize is some of the features of other phones may be patented and proprietary to those phones, just like many features are exclusive to Samsung.
