Power off the printer, then unplug the printer from the outlet for a few minutes, then plug the printer back in. Also, make sure your printer drivers are updated. See if this helps at all.
Do you have HPSmart installed? You can install it and either switch to that print engine or keep using the native print engine. The presence of the HP print engine may improve the print function whether you enable it or not. If you turn both print services on, your printer will appear in the list twice and you would have to select which one to use.
