Windows Media Player Fails to Detect Galaxy A35 for Syncing

I'm trying to sync music and playlists from my Windows 10 and 11 laptops to my Galaxy A35. At first, Windows File Explorer wouldn't even recognize internal and SD card storage, but after much internet searching managed to lick that problem. However, I can't get Windows Media Player to recognize the phone for syncing. An internet search shows that a number of other people have had this problem, but no clear solutions. Can anyone help me sync my WMP music and playlists to the Samsung Galaxy A35? I never had this problem with my Galaxy J3 Orbit.

Also, I created three playlists in Samsung Music on the A35, hoping to find where the program stores them and with what file type suffix, but can't find them anywhere (I have enabled "show hidden system files" in file explorer). Can anyone tell me where Samsung Music stores playlists, and with what suffix?

Thanks,

Terry

Check the usb settings on the phone, they need to allow you to transfer data, phone also needs to be unlocked to transfer data.

Thanks for responding, Mac. The phone is unlocked and set to allow data transfer ("USB controlled by this device; use for transferring files/Android auto") and I have been able to copy files to the phone both by USB cable and bluetooth. Something else seems to be going on.

Update:

I'm not sure how or why, but I can now get Media Player Legacy to sync to my devices on  my Windows 10 laptop, but not the Windows 11 ARM64 one. The significant difference seems to be that Media Player on the Windows 10 laptop has a sync tab when it opens, whether or not any devices are connected, but on the Windows 11 laptop, it doesn't. No idea why. Version information:

Windows 10 laptop, version 12.0.19041.5369

Windows 11 laptop, version 12.0.26100.2894

I've tried removing and reinstalling MP Legacy on the Windows 11 laptop, but it hasn't restored the sync tab. Given that new Media Player doesn't do synchronizing at all, I have to wonder whether Microsoft isn't "deprecating" (their euphemism, not mine) the ability to sync to connected devices.

Is anyone else finding that their Media Player legacy lacks a sync tab? Has anyone found a solution to this?

Thanks,

Terry
