Does anyone know where the flex sensor is that defects when the z Flip 5 is fully closed.

This phone is driving me nuts, because it just randomly started keeping the inner screen active when I close the phone, and I have no idea where the sensor is to figure out why it isn't working consistently.

Hardware diagnostics all come back normal, but that kind of makes sense because the problem is inconsistent and it only exists when the phone is fully closed, at which point I can't run the diagnostics anyway.

Either way, I wind up having to open and close the phone several times in order for it to register.

When you say inner screen active, while the phone is closed what do you mean ? How do you even check if the screen is active while phone is fully closed

Meaning the cover screen never turns on and you can literally see the inner screen is still on. Even fully closed there's enough of a gap to see inside when the obviously still lit up inner screen is on.

You would know it if it was happening to you. Assuming you have the cover display set to 'Always on'. Otherwise, it's easy to miss unless your looking for it.

I wish restarting fixed mine.

I've done a full reset of the phone and it still persists. Hoping there's a fix that doesn't require sending the phone back to Samsung.

Unfortunately, Im afraid you have a defect in the cable possibly that may need to be repaired. I hope you're able to fix the problem with that.

Hello Craig, Welcome to the Community. We understand the concern of the screen not turning off when the phone is closed.

In addition to the factory reset that you have already completed, another troubleshooting step you can try is testing the phone in Safe Mode. https://www.samsung.com/us/support/answer/ANS00062983/

If the inner screen stays active when you close the phone in Safe Mode, then as @Holylove mentioned, repairs may be needed. You can use the following link to find a list of service centers in the U.S. that can do the repair: http://www.samsung.com/us/support/service/location or by contacting customer support by calling 1-800-726-7864.
