Galaxy Note PhonesHello,
- I have a Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra 5G with the latest updates. My battery was having problem so I have to replace the battery. Since then, when I plugged my phone to my laptop, the "USB for File Transfer" no longer showed up, my phone does charge though. As of now, my laptop couldn't recognize my phone and I was not able to transfer any files between my phone and my laptop.I went to Developer options/Default USB configuration
Transfering and checked the Transfering files option, reboot my phone, plug in and still it won't show up in my laptop. I used the same cable with my Samsung S20 FE 5G phone and have no problem, it showed up in the laptop.
What could be the cause of the issue with my Note 20?
Any suggestions/comments are much appreciated.
Thank you.

Galaxy Note PhonesIt sounds like your Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Ultra 5G is not being recognized by Windows 10 for file transfer after replacing the battery. Since your cable works fine with another device, the issue is likely software-related or due to a missing driver. Here are a few troubleshooting steps to fix this:
Check USB Connection Mode
- Plug in your phone to the PC.
- Swipe down from the top and check for the USB options notification.
- If available, manually select "File Transfer" instead of "Charging Only."
Try a Different USB Port
- Some USB ports (especially USB 3.0/3.1 ports) may not work properly with certain devices.
- Try switching to a USB 2.0 port on your laptop.
Update Samsung USB Drivers
- Download and install the latest Samsung USB drivers from Samsung's official site.
- Restart your PC after installation.
Enable USB Debugging (If Not Already Enabled)
- Go to Settings > Developer Options (Enable Developer Mode if needed).
- Toggle USB Debugging ON and then reconnect the device.
Reinstall USB Controllers on Windows
- Right-click on the Windows Start menu ā Device Manager.
- Expand Universal Serial Bus Controllers.
- Uninstall all Samsung-related drivers and restart your PC.
- Windows should reinstall the necessary drivers automatically.
Try Samsung Smart Switch
If file transfer via MTP (Media Transfer Protocol) isn't working, try using Samsung Smart Switch to sync your files. Download it from Samsung Smart Switch.
I recently explored a cloud-based alternative for seamless file management between devices (LINK), which might also help in case the USB connection remains unreliable.
Let me know if any of these solutions work for you!
